Does an S10 w/ a V-TEC sound too crazy?

I would rather use an Audi 3.0L with the supercharger. Around 300 HP / eight speed tranny and 30 mpg on the highway.

The Audi unit makes more sense. It's already a first class bit of rear wheel drive technology. Make up some mounts, buy a drive shaft and you're done. It also has some tricks like the Eaton supercharger and intercooler nestled in the valley for no lag when you step on it.

What are you planning to do with this thing? race up to the redlight and be the first to need brake service?

Yes Bob, that is what everyone with a high horse power engine does. They race as fast as they can toward the red lights then stand on the brakes, sending plumes of smoke in the air. If they are in a school zone, they go faster and sell drugs on the playground when they stop.... happy now?

To have a "one of" like that creates a puzzle for the person even trying to change the oil. Kinda relegated to "do it yerselfer" status.

Anything is possible with money. It may be too underpowered. Especially if you want to do any towing. You want a lot of torque to tow.

I drive a MINI. It is simply the most fun you can have driving! Does curves, handles like a go-cart!

You want to be HEAVY if you're doing any towing. Maybe a pup tent or rolling BBQ setup would be okay, but a horse? I wouldn't want to use junior to do what one of the big boys was designed to do!

I don't think the thread author is building a S10 for towing. He's building a Dime for show and go.

i think a pontiac solstice / saturn sky redline drive train would be better. s2000 was just made to go; not for performance.

thanks for the responses guys. Really though right now I'm just dreaming. One project at a time. However, a few years down the road I can decide exactly what I want to do. As for tenspeed's answer I like the idea of the bigger displacement and supercharger, but I would have to start budgeting for it now. 7jimmy7 has a good point to consider all the wiring and techno stuff I would have to research/get a hold of. And bob_nueske I don't know where you live but not every street here is lit up like a christmas tree with stoplights. Sometimes the backcountry cruising is fun too--that is if gas stops climbing.
