Clutch

Asked by GuruT88HT Jul 11, 2018 at 06:57 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo 5 LS Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car won't go into gear when running, when I
push the clutch in it makes a high pitch noise. If I
start it in gear it wants to take off especially
reverse.tje pedal is grabbing fine and I don't have to
release the clutch much when shifting prior to all
this.ive looked for leaks and saw none.one guy
said put it in second ,put e brake on.if u release the
clutch and is still running its the clutch. I did that
and it stalled almost immediately. Any ideas?

The noise is most likely caused by your throwout/ release bearing and if its worn badly enough I could see it causing an issue getting it into first and reverse. As for your test it sounds like the clutch disc is okay because it grabbed and stalled but only an inspection and measurement for wear can tell for sure, the pressure plate may also be worn because of the bearing. By the time you're far enough in to change the release bearing it's not much more work to change the clutch disc and pressure plate also, you can get it all as a whole kit and it even comes with the alignment tool

So I wouldn't need a master cylinder ur thinking. I just don't want to spend a lot of money.only paid a 1000 for the car with 110000 on it.thanks

Not sure, one way to quickly test master/slave is to kind of kick the pedal down quickly. If you're able to get into gear then then yes the seals in the master/slave are leaking pressure. It's not the best way but it's quick, easy and free
