Asked by GuruW3D1Y Oct 19, 2018 at 08:20 PM about the 2007 INFINITI G35 Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've replaced hoses and belts, installed new thermostat and radiator cap.
Still, needle shows HOT.  What can be the problem now?

First, make sure all air is bled from system. On your car though that should happen on it's own. Then check fans are coming on. An "engine coolant temp sensor" (ECT) sends input to either a fan controller unit or the ECU to tell the fans to come on. If they don't come one, either fans are bad, ECT is bad, or controller/ECU is bad. You can easily check if fans work by turning on the AC, fans should automatically come on. You may also have a weak water pump , they do wear out after a while. If there is a lack of pressure in upper rad hose or coolant flow is less, pump may be going bad, the vanes on them wear down.
