A/C unit works intermittenly

2004 Isuzu Rodeo a/c works, I can hear the compressor, however, a/c
"blows" intermittently, sometimes it comes on when the car is started other
times I have to wait for it by either turning the car off/on, fiddling with the
switches or it will kick in while driving if left in the "on" position, then unit will
start to dispense cold air. Any idea what is causing this or what might need
to be changed...170000 miles everything else (electrical) works..I
think...smile. Can you help me please, it's HOT!!!

170000K lots of miles system might be low on R134A If so the compressor will cycle on and off mostly OFF and things won't be to cool! The basic drill is to connect gauges to the AC system check pressure and diagnose whats taking place..call around have it done but expect $110 standard fee... UNLESS AC pump or other components are done. Regards
