Jeep won't start, battery 6 months old, clicking sound

Tried jumping and doesn't work.  Just hear clicking.  lights and radio do work.  
got new battery 6 months ago. started the jeep every week and started right
up except for a 2-3 week period and now won't start...just hear the clicking
when turn the key

Is there a way for me to test it? Is it something that's easy to replace or just better for a mechanic to do?

If you don't know how to replace a starter,then yes have someone qualified to test and replace if necessary.

Here is a way you can test it most of the time try tapping on starter with a hammer while some one tries starting vehicle at the same time if vehicle starts replace starter.
