Should I replace wire harness for abs/trac light when I looked at wires saw
some copper peeking thru

I would install a new wire harness, anytime anything is not encased, creates an open ground. Either install yourself or get to a dealer before any further issues arise.

Replacing is the best policy, but you can repair with heat shrink tubing if component is working. How is the insulation on other parts of wires?
