Oil change every 2000 miles????

Asked by GuruRHH Mar 18, 2017 at 10:05 AM about the 2007 Nissan Murano SL AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why does our Nissan Murano 2007 with 110,000 miles require oil change
every 2000 miles.  No oil leaks and no visible signs of burning oil.   Engine
check light comes on and we had it checked showing codes got them
checked and nothing,  oil is low. We change it and everything goes away.  Any
suggestions????!!!!!

No and it NEVER did. A car that new should easily go 5000-7000 miles between oil changes...just like the service manual likely says. Most manuals have two schedules, one for severe duty (taxi, Uber, Police) and normal use (pretty much everything else). Also with changes in oil, synthetic versus dinosaur oil, the change intervals will go even higher. I drive for Uber, use Royal Purple, and automatically change oil in my 2015 Hyndai Sonata every 7,000 miles.

I don't know for some reason we started using synthetic and 100,000 miles and now when the check engine light comes on they scanned it and it says something about crankshaft and all that other stuff and it shows nothing soon as we change the oil and everything is fine and then around 2000 to 2500 that check engine light comes back on any oil level is low showing no signs of leakage or burning oil through the exhaust
