Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Altima that has an incredibly slow acceleration rate once stopped. It doesn't jerk or rattle or do anything else, its just slow after coming to a complete stop, like at a red light or stop sign. the check engine light is on but I had that checked and was told it was either the transmission fuel or a sensor, I had the trans. fuel checked and that was fine as well.

Replace air filter, clean throttle with throttle body cleaner, replace fuel filter, add Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner to gas tank.

Well the transmission just has a petroleum based oil, (not fuel) which has to be clean and filled to the proper level. Now if there is not enough fluid, and or there is a problem with the transmission, the car may not shift all the way down to first, even when at a stop. As a result, she starts in second gear and is substantially slower than a properly functioning gear set....could in fact be a solenoid which has failed...and thus flagged that check engine light. Find out exactly what the code is and what it refers to...proceed from there....

its an automatic, does that matter? when the check engine light was checked, I was told it was either the transmission fluid was low, which was checked and it was fine, or the sensor just needed to be replaced. I had it checked by Advanced Auto and an actual mechanic

No idea. But I can tell you the mechanic who worked on my car fixed the issue, and I haven't had any problems with it since. I'd just hand that bulletin to a mechanic and see if that gets the job done. I went to an Auto ER.

I have a 2016 model by the way. The bulletin says that issue and solution in particular only affects models 2013 - 2016.

Lll PROBLEM FIXED for $21.99!!! My 2010 Nissan Altima was having the same problem.... VCD Off & SLIP lights came on.... delayed acceleration after being stopped. After reading on another forum that changing the brake light switch fixed the problem, I decided to give it a shot. Bought a new brake light switch at ORiellys for $21.99, looked up on YouTube how to install it (took less than 2 mins with no tools necessary, being a girl with NO mechanical experience) and wallaaa problem was immediately fixed. Hope this helps some of you out there!!!
