My Passat is making  a loud whistling sound. Could it be the Turbo? It makes the sound after I cut it off until the turbo shuts down.

has it always made the sound? i can't hear it myself so i have no idea, but you should probably try cleaning out the turbo. stuff can get into the intake sometimes, and that might restrict the airflow and make a sound.

I have a 2008 2.0T and experienced the same issue a week or 2 ago. My dealer took care of it, no charge. Some sort of valve associated with the turbo leaking air. Don't know any more than that. Mine was whistling on accelleration and on shutdown.
