my question referenced replacing the instrument cluster panel with a used one

your answer was not clear to me. your answer of "yes" did not tell me if my odometer will show the actual miles that were on my vehicle before  replacing it with a used part or will the odometer show the miles that are on the used part.  What is the ecm/bcm that you said the miles are stored on?   I am a female and I do not know what this means  Thank you kindly for your help.
