will a new battery work if old one is dead

I have the original battery in my 2007 Lucerne.  It is fully dead car has not been used for two months.  If I replace the battery with a new one will the computer reset and will  the car start and all the electronics work?

It should ... Of course you need to reset your clock and radio presets
