2007 subaru outback is it sohc or dohc

2.5i's were all SOHC. If it's an Outback XT, then it's DOHC and turbocharged. Regular 2.5 and 2.5i were both naturally-aspirated SOHC.

Be grateful that it's a SOHC, they're less complicated than the DOHC and starting in 2013 the DOHC FB series engine started with the oil burning issues you've been reading about. And, they finally settled a big lawsuit over it.

faggy -. Just make sure that you pay close attention to your head gaskets and when the time is right, replace them with the multi layered head gaskets. See this, https://allwheeldriveauto.com/six-star-subaru-head-gasket-kits/
