Subaru Legacy 3.0r spec-b or gt spec-b

I've been looking at buying a Subaru
Legacy as a family car but I'm torn
between the 3 litre flat six and the
2.5 litre turbo both spec B models!
I'm struggling to see a difference
between both apart from the
obvious. I would prefer a manual
model but apart from that I'm
struggling to see a difference!

Random thought - do you race with NESBA? Back to the engine specs.. I don't know enough to help you. But I would recommend NASIOC or legacy forums where they'll have a good amount of info, stats, opinions, what is easy to work on or not, etc.

I recommend you contact your local or state Subaru club via Facebook groups. (ie Fort Collins Subaru Club or Iowa Subaru Club). Now, on to the engines. If you are buying new, knock yourself our. Subarus are expensive to maintain if you like to enjoy your driving. I am on my third Subie, a 2001 Subaru Outback (Legacy) wagon. I have the 2.5L H4. This engine is the trusty work horse of Subaru. If you are buying used, I recommend the 2.5L H4; unless you need to be a race car drive and can afford a lot of repairs.
