Can you change a starter solenoid and not the whole starter?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my car intermittently turns over. I brought it to
Midas the other day. I heard some clicks, but there
was no smoke, no grinding sounds, etc. so I know
changing a solenoid might be easier than the
whole starter which I don’t want to fix. So is there
anyone here who could gimme some advice on
this?

If clicking then the solenoid is working, so check the battery and its terminal cleanliness first. If no consistent clicking AND the battery's ok then YES, you can remove the starter assy (the rear mounting bolt I think is a 14mm), then remove the solenoid and replace the inner brass contacts that wear.
