Why does it cut off

What would make my car shut off shorty
after you start it and it run a little

A few things. Check the oil filter to make sure it is clean. See if there is a decent amount of fuel pressure going into the engine, there is usually a rail where you can release the pressure, fuel pump or fuel pump relay could be going out. You could also have a clogged catalytic converter. Are there any engine lights on?
