Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 ford ranger 2x4 and I wanted to do a custom sound system this weekend. I got the sterio system down, but then when I went to do that radio the colours were a miture of the 2007 diagram but mostly the 2008 diagram. I tried to put it all together but got nothing, no power, nothing, so I re attached my old radio and im still getting absolutely nothing. can anyone help me or should I take it to a shop? thanks in advance, and I can send photos if nessesary

On some radios the ground is a ground strap that hooks right behind the radio. In some cases it has to be removed to get radios out. Did you remove yours and not hook it back up? (If this applies to yours)

no grounding strap that im aware of, I never had anything like that to remove in the initial process. the only things I had removed was the radio receiver and the main wires connecting to the radio

Did you use an adapter harness(specially for your truck) or cut your wires to install new radio?

Oh no. For about twenty dollars (+ or -) you could have got an adapter harness just for your truck and would be singing to you new radio instead of singing the blues. Double check all your connections where you wired it back together.

I know about the adaptors, I just never thought of it when I was getting my supplies so I just did it the old fashioned way.

ill go check all the wires over, and if they are all connected right and I plug in my old radio I should be getting the power am I right?

Have you tried to crank your truck up? If doors were open during installation battery might just be dead.

Red wire only hot from ign.Yellow wire should stay hot for memory,Just have to make sure you have good ground.
