Battery dash light

My 07 rangers battery light came on yesterday so
today I put in a new battery, however the light is still
on. Does this take a while to reset? Or does it more
likely mean the alternator is dying? How to I check
the alternator to see if it's working right?

Its going to be a alternator problem. But you can check at the battery when the engine is running, with a digital volt meter to see if there is 14.5 DCV. Or you could just go to an auto parts store and have them check the charging system.

I have a 2001 ranger and light came on after charge check which said ok, It was on for four days, and I had oreillys run check w/ OPD plugged in, still ok but, I left key on for 30 seconds, turned off and started it "Light went out". Guess it just needed time out to correct itself!
