4.6L V8 Ford Explorer Engine temperature sensors

I cannot find my engine temperature sensors. My
cooling fan is engaged too often. At one time my
fan was running because I was low on coolant due
to a bad radiator. I replace the radiator and fixed it.
Then my fan was running because my thermostat
was thinking after it would fully Warm up. Fixed that
Now my fan runs when it is cold  right when I start
the motor intermittently .Then it runs intermittently.

There is one to the left of the thermostat housing.


I have looked there. I have seen that on older models but not mine. I have read there are 2. Any other suggestions as to where to look.


Thats where it should be, somewhere around the thermostat housing. But from what I can tell there may be another one on the right side, (passenger) in the back of the head.

Yes, I think that's right. I found a YouTube video that shows the intake off of one and you can see one and the guy says it's a 2007 4.6 l V8


Ok, so now my truck did something different today. The fan was on and running full blast like it does intermittently every time I drive it but then the fan sounded like it was running at half speed and not roaring as loud. So I began to accelerate and it seemed to not have as much power like the transmission may be slipping, I Floored it and It seemed to have reduced power, then when I let out of it, it stayed reved to about 3000 RPMs and I could hear a whistle. I thought that it might be something with the computer, then disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes, hooked it back up and immediately started the engine and the fan was running full blast. I did not unhook the battery until the engine was cooled off.


I have seen a lot of people asking about a whistle sound. I don't know what it is, but is got to be something. I'd like to know that one.

I have seen an article about a guy who had ongoing fan issues and it turned out to be a part inside his transmission. After having the fan/transmission issue today I am inclined to believe that they are connected. The whistle almost sounded like something was spinning very very fast.
