Saturn sl1 brake lights

Hey guys i have a saturn SL1 and i replaced
the passanger side brake light 3weeks ago
and its already out again....i noticed when i
replaced it that the socket had black marks
like it shorted out...all other lights work fine.
What could be happening as i dont want to
get pulled over

Just change the bulb and see if gets to hot by applying the brake have someone do it for you while u see if it over heats?
