Serpentine Belt on 1997 Saturn SL-2 won't turn

Asked by MoeA Jul 25, 2015 at 10:50 PM about the 1997 Saturn S-Series 4 Dr SL2 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced a bad water pump on my 97 SL-2. I put the serpentine belt back on, but
now it won't move. None of the pulleys turn. Is my tensioner too tight? The bolts go into an
aluminum head and I'm worried about stripping. Suggestions?

Well my guess is that you have the belt on incorrectly or that the new water pump has a seized pulley? or you have a different pulley that's going bad check some things out & get back to us here OK? PS you should not be able to move the belt when its installed on the pulleys it should be tight.
