Saturn 2002 l200

My wife was driving her 2002
l200 when she heard a
popping noise and the engine
stalled,she coasted into a
parking lot. Upon trying to
restart all the starter would do
is spin and not engage the
flywheel . I have since
removed the starter and had it
tested it passed.so I don't
know what to think a new
starter is about 160, any ideas?

If starter doesn't engage flywheel something is not right because that's wat its suppose to do. Why would a good starter not reach flywheel? Did u look at the gear on starter that engages flywheel or the flywheel itself? Are the teeth messed up. I would start there. They may have tested starter but not paid attention to the gear? Let us know wat u found
