why does my satern keep shutting off

Asked by sdsp1904 Mar 23, 2015 at 10:04 PM about the 2001 Saturn L-Series 4 Dr L100 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My satern ran great but all of a sudden started cutting off. Wait awhile and it will start but
15 min. later cut off. Took it in to get it checked  and was told it could be head gasket.
There's no sign of water in the oil .I don't think it could be a head gasket . Only has 51000
mileage engine still new

could be the timing chain slippage, partial recals for that...see http://www.ncconsumer.org/news-articles/nccc-advises-consumers-to- avoid-22l-saturn-l-series-vehicles.html
