If you have gasoline leaking, and can smell the distinct odor of gas, do NOT drive the car until it's fixed. Sorry I don't know, don't have enough information to help you, but I am compelled to warn you, the risk if fire is real. But when you say 'smell gas burning" do you mean exhaust? I am just going on the title of your question----- What does the fluid on the ground look like" Gasoline evaporates very rapidly...oily, motor oil...transmission fluid, red(ish) ....coolant, green or dark red..
