2005 Town & Country - can no longer lock my doors from the drivers side and lights/bells beep for no reason

Asked by Debbie Dec 08, 2013 at 07:43 PM about the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country Touring LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About 6 months ago, I noticed I am no longer able to lock my doors from the inside
(when the drivers door is closed) and the auto-locks no longer function when I reach the
speed that would lock them.

Also, I have gotten out of the van and it would ding and the lights would flash.  I would
turn the headlights off, then back on and it would stop.

I'm going to say looks like a BCM body control module problem...these things need to see steady 12.5 volts DC, which by now there is some corrosion created at the main ground connection...remove the bolt holding the end of the black cable and wirebrush that lug, removing all corrosion..same with the chassis...with renewed ground and solid connection .....and a NEW battery...the system will behave itself~...having done this~

the BCM is just confused because we're feeding it varying voltages and varying amperages....let's feed it steady power now...ain't but a thing~
