I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 mega cab with heavy duty suspension (8 lug able instead of regular five). I've been told it's almost the same as a 2500. My question is, I tow my camper weighing in around

10,000 lbs. I have no problems but do I
need to have overdrive off when towing on
open highways and flat land? It kills my
mileage with it off.

yes, you should turn off the overdrive with a trailer that heavy. otherwise, you could build up too much heat and destroy the trans. if you are on flat ground, pay attention to if the trans is trying to shift in and out of overdrive, or if it just staying in overdrive. if it is staying, you may be ok. I would recommend having a trans temp gauge installed.
