2006 spectra 5 will not go into drive until you raise the E brake one click.

When I put my 2006 Kia Spectra 5 into drive, it won't go forward. It will go into
reverse. If I raise the emergency brake lever up one click, the car will operate
in Drive. Are they somehow intergrated or?????? Car only has 102000 KMS
or about 60,000 miles.

You may have a hung-up emergency brake. Emergency brakes are like drum brakes, they are better at stopping a car going forward than they are backwards. You can try to free up a hanging emergency brake by driving it in reverse somewhere to let it self-adjust, but if this persists take it into a shop for some brake work.
The emergency brake is not hung up. I can move the car when the brake is ONLY pulled up one click. When the emergency brake is right off the engine just revs in Drive and goes no where. When I pull up on the E brake handle one click, NOT full on, the car then moves in drive. This is wierd.
I have a similar situation. Seems like an electrical problem perhaps. Did you ever find the root cause?
Yes, I found the problem. While going through the fuse box under the hood, and looking at the schematic of where the fuses go, I noticed one fuse in a slot where there wasn't supposed to be a fuse at all. I removed the fuse. To my suprise, the tranny went into drive without any problem. I test drove it and it worked perfectly.
