Dash noise on 2006 Kia Sorento

Asked by GuruWPMW Apr 01, 2017 at 09:19 AM about the 2006 Kia Sorento LX 4WD

Question type: General

I have a 2006 Kia Sorento. I was leaving for vacation and just as I merged onto the highway, a noise appeared from the dashboard.  At first I thought I had a hole in the windshield, however, then the noise came even when I opened the window.  The sound was like a fan getting stuck on something but still turning.  The car accelerated easily and no pressure lost.  The faster I drove the faster the noise came.  When the window was open, you could hear it from the door panel as well.  The engine itself never lost power nor did any lights appear on the dashboard. It however was an annoying sound which lasted the entire trip of 10 hours. What could the noise be?

I suspect the noise is coming from under the hood (re;The faster I drove the faster the noise came.)... open the hood and start the engine.

I received the response in my email. No there is no noise when the hood is open. The noise only appears once you drive the vehicle and starts at about 60 + kms/hr.

We're having this exact problem with our 2003 Sorento. It has never made a noise before. Same as you with revs, driving us mad
