I have a 2006 Kia Sorento LX my radio lights up and functions work but I get no sound I tried to add an amp for load music bass box the power sparked and speakers stopped working can somebody help

1 - Are you OK? I've had loose ground wires let go & spark on me; not overly fun. 2 - Have you checked the fuses in your Kia's fuse block? 3 - Have you checked the fuses in your radio & your external amp? | Typically, when installing car audio, we want a 12 - 18" Positive (Red) lead from the battery to a fuse big enough for all of our equipment and then the lead continues to our distribution block and/or equipment. At the distribution block, we have another set of fuses, large enough for each component it's connected to (if your amplifier has 2 x 20 amp fuses, then you'd put a 40 Amp fuse in your distribution block). It does add to the cost of the install, but helps ensure that you only lose a $2 - $15 fuse and not a $xxx.xx piece of equipment. | As for the ground, that is typically either a single ground from your amp to the chassis of your car (strip the paint, if you can in that spot & metal-on-metal). This lead should be no longer than 18", typically. If you have multiple pieces of equipment (not including your car radio), then we use a distribution block for the grounds, so we just have 1 ground lead to the body of the car. | When selecting the wiring for your power & ground, please don't just use speaker wire. You want to use at least 12 - 8 gauge power leads (the lower the #, the thicker the cable). | Crutchfield.com typically carries a good variety of equipment (cheap to Focal) and has some great tutorials & power / ground kits that are set-up by power level: 100 - 300 watts; 350 - 500 watts; etc. | Also, make sure that your sub box is secured and isn't moving around too much --- I made that mistake once and lost sound for a 4 hour trip :(. | In regard to your power & ground, please make sure that all bare metal is covered (taped, secured, etc.) so that you don't get an incidental metal-on-metal spark / short. I had that happen too on my B-II w/an RF Punch 60 that my local shop caught before I got on the road. They were nicer than they needed to be about it, but saved me from accidentally shorting out my amplifier and/or damaging other equipment in the truck. | Good luck!!
