I have a 2006.5 kia optima ex. V6 2.7L engine. I put gas from a can into the fuel tank, later realized there was dirt or something in the can. Now my car will not start. What is going on?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm wondering if I need to replace the
entire fuel pump or could the filter just be
clogged?

There is no filter they finally put screens in. Now you have to determine fuel or spark. Get quick start fluid and then you'll know right away that the spark is good. This might help to pump that dirty fuel though and use injector cleaner now. My fuel pump is still original at 188,354 miles on the same exact car.

The injectors are probably clogged or the pump even the filter on the pump could be caroded if u run it on empty a lot and put gas from a can in it a lot
