mechanical issues

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2007 RR HSE with 30,000 miles on it. It has an extended warranty up to 50,000. After reading some of
these reviews do you believe I should extend it even further? What issues do I need to especially consider other than the
hydraulics?

Well first of all you don't have hydraulics, You have an air suspension. With the late models if anything goes wrong with that system its generally in the first few months , or when the cold weather hits. Quite a few left the factory with nipples installed wrong , once they repair them they are pretty much good for 120,000 plus miles. Generally with these vehicles, its not the car, its the people who work on them. I have a 07 HSE Supercharged, before that a 05 LR3 , my mom has a Sport. NO problems with the sport at all, the Lr3 needed the transmission reprogramed and one new nipple. The superchager came installed backwards on the the new one. I guess quite a few of them did. Find a dealer with a mechanic who trained on Landrovers, or call Landrover and demand that the one in your city send there techs there. I've driven these things for years with almost no problems and it has never let me down. Another thing I find, a lot of the people who buy these cars used cant afford them which leads to a lot of bad reviews. I would buy the extended warranty , its cheaper then buying a new car and if you ever sell it, it will be more attractive.

Yes, l extend mine yearly and good job as i had to have a new clutch, gearbox etc... recently and probably would of had to re-mortgage the house to pay for it, if it had not of been covered.

When my son purchased his new 2006 RR HSE back in 2005 for $82,000, he never purchase an extended warranty even when his warranty expired. Just over the 5 year mark and at 54,000 miles he had problems with his air suspension system that ended up costing him $4,000 out of pocket. We just purchased a 2005 RR back in June '10 with 44,000 miles and I felt it absolutely necessary to purchase a 3 year, 45,000 mi. bumper to bumper extended warranty for $2,900. I feel that with any vehicle, the extra dollars spent on an extended warranty is well worth it. In you case, since you only have 30,000 miles, I would wait at least another 15,000 miles or just before the 5 year point before purchasing an extended warranty. My warranty started at the 44,000 mile mark because I had already exceeded the 5 year limit. It's your call.

I have a Range Rover Sport HSE 2007. I currently have 75,000 miles on it. I have never had any issues except to replace the brakes and the tires which I recently did for the second time at the high 60,000 mile range. This is not covered by an extended warranty. I did buy an extended warranty in 2010 that covers my vehicle to May, 2014. In hindsight, I did not need to purchase this warranty. Maybe I was lucky. However, my car has been excellent in every way.

The extended warranty does cover my vehicle to May 2014 or to 100,000 miles.

I am generally wondering where I can find out what the avg cost was to keep a 2009 Range Rover serviced and in great shape to 100k miles in the US with half city miles and half high way miles. BC I was looking at a new vs used and all the new warentity say 4 yrs or 100k, which ever is first but them the precertif used w 20k miles, offer a 7 yr or 100k based on your purchase date. I noticed most used the dealer shows have 20-40k miles. They told me most people tunr them in at 50k miles bc that;s when stuff starts getting expensive. So I want to know how much to make it last to 100k plus miles on avg
