Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok this start pretty much a year ago and i have been trying to fix it and still no luck. Pretty much when i go to start the car it cranks over a bunch of times before it starts up. Every now when it starts it will go from 700 rpm then rev up to 1500 then slowly let off. My foot never once touched the pedal. I changed out the spark plugs and wires(all day experience), bought a new key, new fuel pump, changed cap and roter on the opti spark but still it has this problem and i dont know what the problem could be.

wow you have put quite a bit of money in the car if you were gonna go that far why didn't you just take it to the shop anyways check your vacuum hoses make sure every things is hooked up check your pcv valve (passenger side valve cover) if it doesn't rattle freely replace it also don't forget the lines on the rear of your intake. If this doesn't help check your EGR valve on rear of intake its the big round thing bolted to the intake if its dirty replace it. These two are more than likely to be the issue and are vary inexpensive to do if that still doesn't help I would possibly take it in to a shop or look at those intake gaskets they leak often hope this helps paul

The opti spark module itself may be the issue. GM had tons of problems with it. It is the reason they discontinued the LT1. MSD makes an aftermarket unit that is alot more reliable. If you are not getting an check engine codes, I would bet on the opti spark. TPS sensor and Air/Idle Control Valve would do the same thing but would trip a light.
