160,000 is quite a few miles, do u know if the starter is good? i havent tried this myself, but a buddy of mine did to test his starter...using a jumper wire with one end connected to the batt.(+) terminal, touch the other end to the starter wire terminal on the starter motor solenoid. BE CAREFUL, make sure car is not in gear, set hand brake...if starter motor and solenoid are good, engine will crank even if ign. switch is off....also just thinking more, if ur wires were backwards and it would turn on, then u swapped the wires to how they should be, ur ignition timing is gunna be off...if ur car was running(ish) the old way, it wont work any other way, so i think if u get a tune-up and get everything firing right with how its plugged in now, then it should work
