rebuild it! regardless of it being stick or auto, it's a gamble and hella frustrating having to pull out a defective one! Specially if you want to keep it, because you get what you pay for.

Automatic should easily cost 1,300... around or near that. Manual on the other hand I'm not sure about, hence my last statement, about $1,700. If you know how much, feel free to tell otherwise don't make useless comments.

Rebuild it. Never buy used in my opinion you'd be possibly buying someone else's headaches if u know what i mean. Buy professionally rebuilt(with papers), New, or rebuild your own

a comment is usless when you post it without even knowing information on his car. we still dont know what it is.... t-56? 4l60E? in what world do you live in where a auto is cheaper to rebuild than a manual??? we also dont know what hes doing with it... v8 or v6 if a v8 does he plan on wanting more power down the line or does he already have a built engine? if you want my opinion call a transmission shop near you and simply ask and after you answer all my previous questions that he will also ask you, then youll know how much your looing at

Some areas of our country. it is almost not sensible to repair are replace a bad auto trans. That said when your car is 5 or 6 yrs old the cost could run upwards of + 2000. So one do all answer, is not possibe, with out a lot of questions answered.
