I have 2006 gmc Sierra sle 4x4. How can I get from hesitating and surging when stepping on the gas

I have replaced the wires and plug and check engine light has not come on.  I put ona
code machine. It said the mass sen. Was bad so I placed it run like a new truck.  Then
the check engine came on for the first time, now it is run ragged again.  I reset the check
engines light. It runabout 5 miles down the road and it is on again. Code po101 & po171.
What do I need do need to do next.

yes...those are codes for MAFand after combustion levels...I'm inclined to blame the TPS, engine temperature and IAT sensors~you might check the output and replace each of these sensors...The EGR may be bugged up with carbon too....the fuel pump may have it's vacuum source impeded or diaphragm torn so as to not deliver the correct pressure~

I'm having the same problem with my 2006 GMC Sierra 1500HD 6.0 litre. It lags when I try to give it power then it will respond and everything will be normal and it's fine a highway speeds. I cut my cats off because I had hoped it was the problem but it wasn't now I have codes for those but also my o2 sensors because everything it's accurately reading. I've come to the conclusion that it's a possible intake leak or gummed up exhaust system because it runs better when you try to accelerate and give it more power because I changed the MAF and that didn't solve anything. Only other could be the fuel pump but if it's that it should stop and not work.
