Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay so my car overheated on me on the
highway and as i was getting off it
completely shut down on me and it took an
hour to jump start my battery... What could it
be? Some say my battery and alternator
amd some say my head gaskets? I would
like honest opinions before i purchase the
parts!

pull the oil fill cap look on the bottom what do you see , the batt. should have 12.5 V at rest and 14+ when running with a good alt. if you get it running what does the exhaust look like ? check on the blown head gasket before you go buy parts for a car that's no good , I've heard there's test kits to see if the coolant and oil are mixing
