96 Lumina Tranny Fluid? What'll happen if DEX VI is used instead of DEX III?

Bad tranny leak. Friend bought wrong
fluid.

Getting the right fluid is easy but I failed to mention in detail; friend bought 3 quarts of DEX VI, in which 1 of them he used. I need a pan gasket kit/filter but money is scarce so I'm relocating - but with a car falling apart I'll go nowhere! Thanks for your replies - a good validation of what I researched. :)
