Can,t get the driver side hood release to disengage

1999 Jaguar XJ8 will not release the hood on drivers side. How can I get it open?

Have someone press down on the hood to relieve tension while pulling on the release.

tried using assistace and it did not work. I will try lubing it tomorrow

recommend TRI-FLO, but the temptation to use too much exists and makes a mess of it all. Just a single jot in exactly the correct place!

i believe the cable came undone. is there a way to get in there and fix it?

after cotting through the wheel well, I found an access through the firewall from inside
