2004 Jaguar XJ8 stalls when warm and placed in gear.

I'm considering purchasing a 2004 Jaguar XJ8. Guy says it starts fine and runs
good when it is cold but sputters and stalls out when it warms up and is put in
gear. He says a mechanic told him that the oxygen sensors upstream and
down need to be replaced on both side. first question, could oxygen sensors
call this issue? Second, could this be a catalytic converter issue?
