I have a 95 Buick Riviera , jus put in a used motor an im trying to get it runing but when i n turn the key over the dash reads tht the car is in drive the tranny had to be put on the new used motor?

So you keep the same trans.. didn't change any trans linkages? I would suggest checking the adjustment on the trans linkage. Or is it by chance you mistakenly moved the trans hook-up attachment (placing the trans gear in drive etc.) when installing the replacement engine?
