2002 buick rendezvous fuel gauge problem?

I have a 2002  buick rendezvous.  If you're start the car and do not pull off        the fuel
gauge go to empty.and goes low fuel

Just bought a 2002 Buick Rendezvous they replaced the fuel pump before I got it & now the fuel gauge doesn't work

Disconnect the electrical adaptors next to the body just under the passenger door under driver side.door.Spray a wd40 or something in it and let dry.That will fix it.
