Cranks but wont start

Asked by May 14, 2017 at 11:20 AM about the 2001 GMC Savana 1500 Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ive replaced the fuel filter, distrib and rotor still
cranks but wont start. Sprayed starting fluid in the
intake and it ran breifly.  What else shud I chk?

I believe there is a crank sensor that allows the fuel pump to send fuel to the engine. If the sensor is bad, it won't start.

Fuel pressure can be checked. It has to be within certain specs. Also, can you hear the fuel pump cycle when you turn the key to the on position? If not then it could be the fuel pump or fuse or relay associated with it.

Possibly the spider injector unit... Upper intake manifold has to be removed to install this part. This is the symptom especially when they get old. The upgraded spider injector system has electronic injectors at the ends of the injector tubes instead of a central injector like the original unit.

Sensors shut off fuel pump in event of accident, also check oil pressure sensor as it will also interrupt fuel pump circuit
