Question type: General

OE spec on these on the 4.3 L engine is 195 F. Alternate temp t-stats are available at 180 F. Is there any advantage or disadvantage in going with the alternate temp? Thanks in advance.

stay with the original temp. There are no benifits on a fuel injected engine lowering the operating temp on these trucks.

...well if your routine involves short trips, you are going to want a t-stat that opens up more quickly...so you can have HEAT rather than waiting for the operating temperature to come to near boiling temperature before it opens up...additional wait~ 195 is good. Going to something hotter may improve gas mileage, but you'll have to wait for it to open before you can get any heat thru your interior heat exchanger~

the time between opening at 195 and lets say 180 is very minor. Maybe a minute tops. And ask Chrysler how the 210 thermostat/operating temp worked with their transmissions. I will tell you not good. Please dont raise the temp, your better off lowering it then
