thrumming in 2WD

Asked by germanhammer Aug 13, 2017 at 09:13 PM about the 2007 GMC Envoy SLE-1 4 Dr SUV 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have noticed a rhythmic thrumming that speeds up as the car speeds up.
This noise disappears when I switch to 4WD.  When back in 2 WD , the
thrumming returns.  Any ideas on what it is and what I can do to fix it?

Few things it COULD be without hearing it. Tires not wearing properly, tire balance, to wheel bearing hub assembly if the sound speeds up as you accelerate.
