I have a 5.3L 2007 GMC Envoy Denali. I just changed the oil, but I'm stumped as to why it only took 5 quarts instead of 6 that the book calls for. Yes I did change the filter.
Did you start the engine and let it drain down?

If the oil level shows good on the stick I would not worry about it.
I agree with you, but I'm one of those guys that needs a solution. I've often been told that I'm too analytical. I guess that comes from being a trouble shooter for so many years. I thought that maybe the dipstick tube somehow got pushed down to far. It seems good and tight. Since I couldn't find the same problem anywhere else on the internet, I figured that it must be a problem unique to my truck and that really bothers me!
