MBZ 350 CLK Cab top problem. Keeps saying close trunk partition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2007 350 CLK Cab's top has worked fine for years. Now when I pull the
switch it say "close trunk partition." I'm used to this and just pull it back and
then it works. Now it keeps telling me to close it and it's already closed.
Does the latch on the left side of the partition need to be adjusted? The
hydraulics when I pull it back work fine.
Any suggestions?

Hopefully, it is a switch, on the left side (facing the trunk,)I think, that might be the culprit. These have been known to get dislodged, or break. If a visual shows no problems, "recycle" the top by putting it up, holding the switch up for an additional 10 sec. or so and see if that solves it. If none of the above, trip to a good shop for diagnostics would be in order.... good luck

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I also read that when the springs get worn they don't push back hard enough and the switch you spoke of doesn't latch properly. You can fool it by taping it back from what I read. I'll try that if your suggestion doesn't do it.
