Asked by Alohamom Oct 26, 2016 at 07:18 PM about the 2007 Jeep Compass Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It's just starting to whine and I can't find anyone but
the dealership. What is a ballpark figure for a new
one?

CVT's are expensive and you probably can't get one anywhere but through a dealer. Call around and talk to transmission shops to see if they can fix it. I think Jeep dumped the CVT in 2014 due to the problems. You could try and find out if Jeep/Chysler will do anything for you. Good luck but I would NEVER buy a CVT except maybe for Subaru.
