How to start my 97 chevy malibu without using key and bypassing standard security system?

Asked by Sharif Sep 10, 2017 at 08:31 AM about the 1997 Chevrolet Malibu LS Sedan FWD

Question type: General

I put the key in the ignition to turn on the car, but it
appears to be stuck in the off position. I tried to
gently turn the ignition switch while simultaneously
turning the wheels, I used electrical cleaner to
spray inside the cylinder to clear any dirt or debris,
nothing worked.I ordered another ignition lock
cylinder to replace the obvious bad one, which
should arrive in 2-4 days. However, in the
meantime, I need to start and move the vehicle
from it's present location. How do I start it to move
it until the new lock cylinder arrive?

A tow truck could move it. Other than that... a bunch of people to lift it? Put it up on jacks and just kick it where you want it. Seriously though, good luck. Wish I knew.
