97 Chevy Lumina Ignition Key will not Go into Ignition

Every time I try to put the key in the ignition, it will not go in. At all. It's like the ignition has
it locked out. If I put my foot on the brake, the car dings like there is a key in the ignition
even though nothing is in it.
