1997 Chevy Lumina 3.1 sputtering while idiling

Asked by Aug 24, 2017 at 10:59 AM about the 1997 Chevrolet Lumina 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok, my 1997 Chevy Lumina all of a sudden has
problems sputtering and bouncing while idling. It
just started this week. When I start it, it sounds and
feels like it would if one of the spark plugs was
removed. The car runs fine while I am accelerating
or pushing on the gas at all. When I stop and it's
just idling is when it sounds like it's sputtering and
wanting to die, and has a big vibration bouncing
feel to it. I checked all the plugs/plug wires and they
are all connected like they should. I changed the
fuel filter a few months ago. I did not think to check
any of the vaccum hoses, I will do that next. It
literally just starting doing this overnight, and like I
said, runs perfectly fine as long as I am pushing on
the accelerator. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.. thanks in advance!
