Motor Mounts

Asked by plakaaa Apr 10, 2013 at 10:38 AM about the 2007 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Audi serviced my car and said vibration on the steering wheel is coming from left and right motor mounts
because it is leaking hydraulic fluid. When i install new motor mounts do i need to fill in hydraulic fluid?

The mount should already have fluid in them. Don't be too disappointed if the new mounts don't solve your steering wheel vibration. Usually vibrations are caused by out of balance rotating machinery such as wheels, rotors, axles, etc.. You can ask other A4 owners on AudiWorld.com and Audizine.com

The vibration is way less but still there a bit. I guess there is no way to really get totally rid of it right?

have all your forward control arms checked i just had to replace all my lower control arms due to bad and warn out bushings and 1 starting to come loose ball join. also i had 2 bent rims on the car and bad rotors that were out of wack fixed my problem try some us web sites like i went to canada auto parts and ordered an entire control arm kit for 130 $ before shipping was uppers lowers stabilizers and tie rods and hardware. its a usa based web page so shipping is free in the continental states. but most common vibrations are from warped and bad rotors and bent rims caused from hitting pot holes to hard or kerbs. so i would have those two looked at first before doing any control arms. oh and a side note if you hear a loud clunking when going over speed bumps that was caused by a mixture of things it also caused vibration in my car 1998 audi a4 quattra the strut mount, stabilizer links and strut bushing in the control arm were all bad it can also cause vibration. and if none of these are the cause take a look into the calipers as a stuck caliper on occasion will make some vibration as well. So list i would check in order is 1.rims. 2. rotors. 3.control arm bushings and ball joints. 4. calipers. 5.upper strut mounts. I also am providing a picture of what my strut bushing looked like in my car and why it needed replacing on the control arm. *sorry about the grouped message web page would not let the spaces in :S*
